Details

Perched at the top of Bukit Jugra, Makam Sultan Abdul Samad is the final resting place of Sultan Abdul Samad, the fourth Sultan of Selangor who ruled from 1859 to 1898.

The mausoleum is part of the fenced Jugra Royal Mausoleum Complex (Kompleks Makam Diraja Jugra), a heritage building and the Selangor royal family’s burial grounds since 1886.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Mausoleum was constructed according to Moorish and Islamic design elements, and commands panoramic views of the surrounding area from its position at the top of the hill.

The rest of the mausoleum complex houses the final resting places of other members of the royal family, including Tengku Muda Musa, Tunku Alfiah (Sultan Abdul Samad’s daughter), Tunku Jaafar, Tunku Yaacob, Tunku Maharum, Raja Berkat and Tengku Mulith Ibni Sultan Abdul Samad.

The mausoleum is often visited together with the nearby Istana Bandar, Masjid Sultan Alaeddin and Muzium Insitu Jugra, all of which are located in the historical town of Jugra in Kuala Langat district.

How to get to Makam Diraja Sultan Abdul Samad


Driving is the best way to get here. Jugra is located ±30 kilometers south of Klang. From Klang Valley, take the Federal or KESAS Highway towards Klang and thereafter, head towards Banting. The drive takes about an hour.
