Details
Located within the lush green Perdana Lake Garden, KL Bird Park is home to more than 3,000 birds comprising over 200 different species.
As one of the largest open aviaries in the world, this ornithological park is one of the Malaysian capital’s most popular sights, attracting over 200,000 visitors annually.
The park is divided into 4 main zones spanning an area of more than 20 acres. Zone 1 and Zone 2 are free-flight zones reserved for various bird species. Here, the birds are able to roam freely within the park. Zone 3 is reserved for hornbills while Zone 4, the largest of them all, is for parrots and flightless birds, including African ostriches and Australian emus.
KL Bird Park is modelled closely after the birds’ natural habitat – the tropical forest. Thanks to this, many species have perfectly adapted to the environment and are able to naturally breed, build nests and hatch nestlings who grow up as a healthy brood.
The park’s unique layout and concept also provides visitors with a great opportunity to observe and appreciate these amazing creatures in a wonderful setting unlike any other.
A 30-meter high man-made waterfall with a lagoon for aquatic birds provides a great backdrop for the park. An amphitheater that seats up to 350 spectators hosts bird shows and performances by cleverly-trained birds every day.
Winding trails, comfortable benches and seating areas with great views can be found throughout the park. In addition, the aviary has a training center, where one can learn about the life and habits of its inhabitants, an incubator, in which the birds are bred, a children’s playground, a gift shop, a cafe and a restaurant.
