From jogging around Perdana Botanical Garden to five-a-side football, there are many great ways to stay fit in Kuala Lumpur, but they don’t provide much in the way of adrenaline rushes.
If you pine for something more blood pumping and intense, there’s plenty of opportunity for adrenaline junkies and extreme(ish) sports lovers to get your kicks in the Klang Valley.
1. Beastpark
One of the latest indoor sports parks to grace the city, Sungei Wang Plaza’s Beastpark has wall courses, sonic curve obstacles, ninja courses, obstacle courses, rope swings, spin cycles, net trapeze, warped walls, BOSU training, jump tubes and jumping bars. Scheduled fitness classes are provided in training studios. One of the star attractions here is the Beast Net (pictured), an 8-meter wide net with a 2-meter wide, angled climb entrance suspended four storeys in the air.
2. SuperPark Malaysia
SuperPark Malaysia is a multipurpose indoor sports park in Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur, whose concept originates from Finland. Home to a smorgasbord of activities, SuperPark Malaysia offers obstacle walls, trampolines, zip wires, slides, playtowers, pedal car racing track, baseball, street basketball, bowling, street soccer, disc golf, ice skating, skateboard and scooter parks, foam pits, climbing walls, gymnastic floors and more.
3. Escape PJ
Escape PJ brings exhilarating games and rides into a contemporary setting at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya. Designed for a wide range of age groups, abilities, and energy levels, activity stations here include launch pads, giant airbags, climbing towers, rope course and slingshots
4. District 21
Put your survival skills to the test and live it up at Malaysia’s first post-apocalyptic-themed indoor adventure and obstacle park in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.
5. X Park @ Sunway Lagoon
Adrenaline junkies, thrill seekers and extreme sports fans will find themselves at home in Sunway Lagoon’s X Park. Gear up for aerial adventures on Malaysia’s longest Flying Fox or soar to great heights on incredible rides such as the country’s first bungee jump and Asia’s highest slingshot ride. Dominate the go-kart circuit or conquer the wild on an ATV. For more pulse-racing action, try your hand at paintball, archery, bungee trampoline, pedal boating and kayaking. X Park’s other outlets are situated in Sunway South Quay and Sunway Serene.
6. AirRider Indoor Skydiving
One Utama Shopping Centre’s AirRider is a great place for amateurs and professionals of skydiving to flaunt their stuff. Experience indoor skydiving and weightlessness with AirRider’s Skydiving Simulator or Vertical Wind Tunnel. Pre-flight training by certified instructors is provided.
7. Jump Street Trampoline Park
Petaling Jaya’s Jump Street Trampoline Park is a roomy, recreation spot for all ages. Fun-filled facilities here include Olympic-spec trampolines, giant airbags, vertical running walls, ziplines, fitness programs plus a foam pit.
8. Skytrex@Adventure
Enjoy zip lining, tree to tree leaping, high rope swinging, tight rope balancing and many other aerial obstacles at Skytrex Adventure in Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest. On offer here are three different circuits with 90 challenges.
9. Camp5 Climbing Gym
This fully-air conditioned 24 metre-high gym beckons climbers with activities such as roped climbing, lead climbing and bouldering. Camp5 is located in One Utama Shopping Center.
10. Amped Malaysia Trampoline Park
Amped Trampoline Park Malaysia is a regional chain of indoor trampoline parks featuring freestyle bouncing, dodgeball, basketball, foam pits and more, located in Petaling Jaya.
