Details

Bagan Nakhoda Omar is a small coastal town in Selangor’s Sabak Bernam district.

Close to the Selangor-Perak border, it is the state’s northernmost and westernmost point.

Bagan Nakhoda Omar is usually visited by fishing enthusiasts who head to the jetty for the boat ride to Kelong Paradise, an angler’s haven located out in the ocean.

For long, the town has been associated with the sea – its name even translates into ‘Skipper Omar’s Quay’.

Till this day, Bagan Nakhoda Omar maintains its fishing traditions, and the main activities of the villagers here are fishing and aquaculture.

Bagan Nakhoda Omar is culturally unique as most of its inhabitants are of Banjar descent, with many still practicing the culture and fluent in Banjar language.

Pantai Bagan Nakhoda Omar

The town is also known for its beach called Pantai Bagan Nakhoda Omar, which is accessible via a road that will take you through several traditional villages, a journey which in itself is already an eye-opening experience.

The town mainly sits on mangrove flats and therefore visitors can spot plenty of birds here such as the red eagle and crane as well as unique flora and fauna belonging to the mangrove forests.

For meals, check out the hawker stalls at the beachside food court and have your meals accompanied by a refreshing breeze. Must-try dishes include the local favourite mi udang banjir or ‘flooded prawn noodles’.
