One of the best things to do in Klang happens to be free, and that’s hanging out along the coastline at Tanjung Harapan.

Tanjung Harapan is a 2.5 to 3km stretch of seaside promenade where visitors can enjoy the ocean breeze.

Over here, views of the cape and giant maritime cranes of Northport’s operation office are among the best in Selangor’s Klang district.

Popular activities at the Tanjung Harapan seaside promenade include jogging, fishing and ship spotting.

Pavilions and raised gazebos dot the wide walkway just next to ample parking spots off the main road.

Makeshift tree swings with seats made of wooden planks and old tires provide a welcome respite from the chaos of day-to-day activity.

Another highlight includes a life-sized Bugis schooner replica next to the paved walkway.

Raised gazebos at the promenade with Northport’s massive maritime cranes in the background.

Visitors are not allowed to get into the water or swim, as the coastline fully consists of large rock formations with no beach.

Muara Ikan Bakar

Till this day, Tanjung Harapan still is a haven for seafood lovers as you will find here a number of popular restaurants specialising in the ocean’s harvest.

Eateries offering grilled fish or ikan bakar are located at the midway and northern point of Tanjung Harapan.

Muara Ikan Bakar is one such restaurant, built on stilts overlooking the ocean, so you can get a good view of fishing boats and other vessels passing by while you enjoy your meal. The food is relatively affordable and will certainly have you ordering seconds.

Fishing

Anglers and fishers venture out onto the rocks at Tanjung Harapan for fishing sessions.

Right next to Tanjung Harapan are several wooden jetties, some of which are privately owned, from which fishing activities may take place.
