Details
Istana Alam Shah is the official palace of the Sultan of Selangor. It is the venue where official duties and customs involving the King of Selangor is carried out, such as birthdays and coronations .
Located in the royal city of Klang, the palace was originally constructed in 1905 during the reign of Sultan Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah, the fifth Sultan of Selangor. During his rule, the Sultan also frequented Istana Bandar Jugra for Friday prayers at the charming Masjid Diraja Sultan Alaeddin just next door.
Istana Alam Shah’s present structure was built in the 1950s and renovated in 2000. A hilly park named Taman Bandar Diraja Klang is located next to the palace.
Opening hours
Open any reasonable time during daylight hours, by appointment with the Selangor Royal Office. One would normally have to write in to request permission in advance for a visit.
The exterior compound of Istana Alam Shah is also one of the stops on the free-of-charge Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk.

How to get to Istana Alam Shah
Driving is the best way to get here. Klang is well connected to the rest of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur via the Federal, NKVE, SKVE and KESAS highways.
