Details

The Titiwangsa Lake Gardens were designed in 1980 by Rio Takahashi, a Japanese landscape architect, to ease congestion at the Perdana Botanical Garden in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

Occupying over 95 hectares, the main attractions here are the vast Titiwangsa Park and a picturesque lake left over from tin-mining activity during the British colonial era. Another smaller, man-made lake completes the park’s beautiful surroundings.

Activities/Things to do

Apart from large areas of parkland, there is a lakeside promenade for gatherings, performances and other social activities, as well as a floating restaurant (Restoran D’Saji – formerly Restoran Nelayan) that can accommodate ~1,700 guests at any one time.

Fishing & Boating
Titiwangsa Park’s 57-hectare lake makes it one of the best places to go fishing and enjoy recreational boating in KL. Life jackets are provided at the boathouse, where visitors may also rent kayaks, paddle boats, Sea Riders, Tubesters and Waterballs to explore the area.

Horseback Riding
For a small fee (~RM1.50 for adults and ~RM0.50 for children), a trainer will walk round the stables with the horse and rider.

There’s also a quick tour around the park on a horse-drawn carriage, which is available for groups of four to five people at ~RM2.00 per person and ~RM0.50 per child.

Radio-controlled Car Racing
Races are held every weekend at a purpose-built facility that includes drivers’ platforms and seating for spectators. Competitions and special events such as miniature F1 races are regular features.

Cycling & Rollerblading
Bicycles and rollerblades (~RM5 for 30 minutes, ~RM2 for a pair of socks) are available for hire here.

Sports, Exercise & Outdoors
Titiwangsa Park offers tennis and squash courts, a football field, observation towers, playgrounds, exercise areas, jogging and cycling tracks, and more.

There are also picnic tables, pavilions/gazebos, benches and seating areas surrounding the park and lakes.

Titiwangsa Stadium, Sports Complex & Golf Club
Run by the city council, Titiwangsa Stadium is a mini indoor arena while the adjacent sports complex has facilities for tennis, squash, table tennis and basketball.

Titiwangsa Golf Club PDRM, designed by several of the city’s police personnel, is a 9-hole, 36 par golf course that spans over 3,055 square meters. There is also a driving-range and caddy service on site.
